The German language version is much more available. your best chance is the czech republic if I am correctly informed), it is IMHO well worth it. If you can get a hold of a European, english-language release (good luck with that. The US 5.00 release did not have these features. The (European) 6.00 release of Wildfire also included several additional mercenaries and - the real gadget - enhanced resolution (1024*768 compared to the original 640*480).
The game is also much harder than the original JA2. Storyline and gameplay are basically unchanged from original JA2, however all sectors and weapons have been redone (IMHO much for the better) and several new weapons have been added. This isn't so much a mod as a new release of the game. Russian only (a translation has been in the works for some 2 years now.) A mission on a small Island in the Baltic (as far as I could tell.) Of all the mods I have encountered so far, this one looked the most professional. Largest Unfinished Business mod I have seen so far, with new storyline, weapons, a strategic map almost as big as the original JA2 one etc. Very good mods which are unfortunately only available in non-English languages. Brand new mod for JA2 including new NPCs, weapons, sectors, etc.
An incredibly cool project which includes tons of new features, implemented thanks to the availability of the JA2 source code. Originally only available in German, there is an english translation patch available now. Other mods I have heard good things about: All new weapons (of course), all new maps, new strategic map, several new Mercs and NPCs. Of course, some hardcoded things like the laptop do not fit to well (then again, you don't really need the laptop in UB), but overall it really captures the feeling well.
